One of his greatest successes came in 2017: at the beginning of the season after a bad injury that suffered him difficulties, Gianluca achieved one of his dreams becoming the Junior 125cc World Champion. Along with his previous successes he took third position in the 2013 European Championship and the win of one European race in 2016 together with victories of Italian Championships: 2017 International Italian Champion, 2017 MX125 Italian Champion and 3 Italian Championships in 2011, 2013 and 2016.
In 2019 he joined the Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing, riding a YZ250F equipped with GYTR, with which he competed in the European 250cc Championship and some races of the MX2 World Championship.
Season 2021 was his debut year in the MX2 World Championship, riding for Team Beddini Racing KTM. 2022 was a very difficult year for Gianluca and in 2023 he decided to begin a new challange in the Enduro GP with Team E-50 Fantic Factory
