Rubén Fernández is a 24 years old Spanish rider who comes from a family that has always been related to motocross, since his father and his brothers have both raced motorcycles. He got his first bike when he was 5, then at age of 6 he competed in his first race.
By 2011 he got his first national title becoming Spanish Champion in the 85cc category, a title that would repeat the following year. From that moment, his sports career has always been on an upward trend, with two more Spanish titles in 125cc before stepping up to the challenge of European Championship racing.
In 2015 Ruben moved to the Netherlands to realise his dream of becoming a professional motocross rider. Starting in 2016 in the 250cc category, he secured his first results but continued improvement through the 2017 season obtaining a third position in the European 250cc Championship.
He made a big step in 2018 debuting in the MX2 class, but unfortunately Ruben got injured and couldn’t finish the championship. At the end of the 2018 season, Ruben was approached and signed a contract with the official Yamaha squad, to compete in the EMX250 Championship through 2019. The sole objective was to win and become champion before moving up in the the elite MX2 World Championship category racing with the best machinery available in 2020.
Even if he couldn’t achieve that goal in 2019, at the end of 2020 he signed a deal with Team Honda 114 Motorsport, to compete in the MX2 World Championship with a factory bike. In 2022 he made hid debut in the higher class, remaining in the same team. In 2023 he competed in MXGP with Team HRC, finishing 5th.
