In a phase of great evolution of his career, he was part of some projects where he could use his experience to test and help the development of new bikes in some different factory teams. His best career memory is the 2009 victory at the Grand Prix held in Agueda with 25,000 spectators, finishing the year with a second place in the MX2 class of the World Championship with six heat victories.
In 2018 Rui entered the National Enduro Championship and won races. He also took part in the Six Days of Enduro in Chile for team Portugal which was a great experience.

Rui took part in the 2022 edition, which final result was compromised by a technical problem in the early stages of the race. Rui achieved a great come back to reach the 24^ overall position and an amazing 3^ place in Stage 4.
With eighteen years of competition at the highest level, Rui Gonçalves has an enviable track record in a career full of great moments and is motivated to continue this way in his Rally adventure.
